Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka today confirmed his interest in signing Stoke forward Bojan Krkic.
Reports in The Mirror suggest that Karanka is a long time admirer of the former Barcelona man and will consider making a move when the time is right.
Boro are currently the lowest scorers in the Premier League and the Middlesbrough manager wants to add attacking options to his squad.
Rudy Gestede joined up with the Teessiders earlier this week but they will now turn their attentions to adding more creativity from the wing.
When asked about Bojan, Karanka said: “I like to bring players who can play in different positions, so we will try.
“At the moment it is one signing, but if someone leaves it could depend.
“I know Bojan, because he was in the national team. He is a good player, he has played in AC Milan, Barcelona, Ajax, Rome, Stoke.. so he is a good player.”
Fellow Spaniard Gerard Deulofeu is also said to be on Boro’s list of targets, but they face stiff competition from AC Milan who are keen on signing the out-of-favour Everton man.
Reports in The Sentinel this week suggested that Bojan was frustrated with his lack of game time at Stoke, so a move could be completed quickly should Boro move Rhodes or Nugent away from the club.
