Boro Interested In Bamford Return
Middlesbrough are hoping to re-sign Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford, according to reports in the Northern Echo.
Bamford originally moved to Teesside during the 14/15 season and bagged 17 goals in 38 appearances helping guide Boro to the Championship play-off final.
At the end of that season, Patrick Bamford went on to be named the Championship player of the year and was then hoping to secure a Premier League move with Boro failing to gain promotion following a final loss to Norwich.
However, since then the Chelsea striker has endured three unsuccessful loan spells with Norwich, Palace and Burnley – not scoring a single goal in the process.
Despite such a record Karanka is said to be a long-standing admirer of the striker, and believes he could help with Boro’s goalscoring problems in the Premier League.
The Chelsea forward is currently not available as he is only half way through a season-long loan with Burnley, but Chelsea officials are hoping to recall him so he can get first team football elsewhere.
Jordan Rhodes and Nugent look to be out of the exit door on Teesside, this could leave space for the signing of Bamford.
