Boro launch bid for Hull defender
Middlesbrough have put in a £4m bid for Hull City centre-back Harry Maguire, according to Sky sports.
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has been looking at different options in defence to try and improve on an already resilient back line. Espinosa and Barragan have already been brought in from Spain to prepare the Boro for their return in the top flight.
A move for Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic was agonisingly close for Boro, after agreeing on a fee with the German club, and “shaking hands” on a deal with the defender himself, it looked certain the Serbian would be heading to Teeside. However, the medical alerted club doctors as results showed Subotic will have to have an operation on his ribs later this year, which will see him out for a long time.
Boro have now shifted their focus to Ex-England U21 centre-half Maguire, who made 33 appearances for Hull last season, starting 25 games. The 23-year-old Maguire joined Hull for £2.5m from Sheffield United in 2014 but could be on his way to the Riverside this summer, and after the departure of Steve Bruce, it looks likely.
